ABOUT IRENE HEALEY,AOCA,BSc.AAM,CCA
Irene Healey is a visual artist with a second degree in Medical Art from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. Her medical art education included the Medical Gross Anatomy and Histology. For over 25 years, Ms. Healey has maintained a clinical practice as a Certified Clinical Anaplastologist, working directly with patients who are missing a part of their face or body. Through this work she has developed an unparalleled expertise in the design and fabrication of various types of silicone devices.
New Attitude’s focus has shifted to mass produced scalable devices with a primary focus is on Women’s Heath and FemTech as these areas that historically received the least innovation and now have exciting opportunities.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
New Attitude’s history is based on a medical artist’s curiosity and openness to finding new solutions and developing new technologies in response to the needs of patients. During her years working with patients missing part of their anatomy, due to a disease such as cancer, Ms Healey witnessed people's responses when presented with a well-crafted and aesthetic device that went beyond restoring appearance and function. She saw that the extra attention to detail and the refined aesthetic quality of the device was experienced as an empathetic gesture towards the trauma that the patient had experienced and this aspect was, in itself, curative. This experience led Ms Healey to name this aspect of designing for patients as Curative Aesthetics ™
An exceptional women and Artist. I found Irene on line and quickly became excited at the prospect of working with her. The weeks with her as she created Prosthetics for me were exciting and healing. I was transformed. Irene has a calm quiet caring way and goes to great lengths to ensure an exceptional outcome. Her desire to fine tune and expand her art will be an exciting adventure to be a part of.
